About Maximilian Schons

I’m a physician and technical program manager who has spent the last decade between medicine, biotech, and AI. My work has always centered on building systems that matter whether for patients, researchers, or, more recently, for making advanced AI safer.

I learned early on that impact comes from execution. During COVID, I helped design Germany’s national pandemic study platform, linking 75+ hospitals and 6,000 patients. Soon after, at Alvea, I built and led the clinical and quality teams that ran the fastest trial of any biotech startup dosing our first patient just 174 days after founding.

Building on my background in medicine and biotech, I now work on AI and neuroscience. I led the first prototype of a next-frame predictor for fMRI data, co-initiated Peregrine, a testbed for AI risk mitigation that seeded a $2.5M project, and I’m authoring the State of Brain Emulation 2025.

Alongside this, I co-founded Stronghold Gym with my brother, a side project where we bring exercise science into everyday training.

At heart, I like to build: infrastructures for research, clinical teams that can move at startup speed, and early experiments in AI that help us navigate what’s coming next.
